Labour's Keswick Pool Sale Plan

In May 2019, I became Deputy Leader of Allerdale Borough Council. And what we inherited was chaos.

Labour had drawn up plans to sell off taxpayer-owned land left, right and centre through the Allerdale Investment Partnership (AIP), while leasing back some of it through extortionate PFI deals.

Among those plans was the sale of Keswick Leisure Centre, which they had planned to close because it was at 'end of life'. To them, buildings had become disposable, not assets to be maintained.
