My Plan

My plan for the Workington constituency

No Ifs, No Buts. We Need To Get Brexit Done

And then we can get on with delivering your priorities for the Workington constituency.

  • We are the party of the NHS

    Supporting our NHS

The NHS is getting record investment. I will campaign to get a share of extra funds spent on improving our local Community Hospitals in Cockermouth, Maryport and Workington. That means better access to emergency care for every community.

  • More money for every school

    Investing in Our Schools

Our young people deserve the best start in life. We are making progress with investment into Workington Academy. I will work with colleges to provide specialist qualifications in local industries, like nuclear technology, construction and manufacturing so young people can get skilled up locally.

  • 20000 police

    More Police, Tougher Sentencing

We’re recruiting 20,000 new police officers to keep our streets safe. I will work with the community to put them on the beat in the right areas and give them the powers and extra resources they need to catch criminals.

  • More Businesses, Better Jobs

    More Businesses, Better Jobs

We need more quality local jobs. That’s why I’m working with the government to get investment into Sellafield. To protect vital jobs and create opportunities for skilled workers, I will campaign for decommissioning work to be prioritised for local employers.

  • £29bn to upgrade strategic roads

    Improving Our Infrastructure

We need to cut congestion. I am campaigning to dual the A66 and tackle the Ramsay Brow bottleneck, opening up access to Workington Port. I’ll push for better flood defences on the B5300 coast road and upgrade the A595.

  • £25m Stronger Towns

    Supporting Our Town Centres

Our town centres have fallen on hard times. That’s why I’ve got a plan to boost towns like Aspatria, Cockermouth, Maryport & Silloth. We can improve shop frontages, bring empty units into use and rejuvenate the ports and harbours. And Workington, where I will push the Lower Derwent Valley regeneration plan, including a new, sustainable multi-use stadium.
